P0874

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0874 indicates that there is an issue with the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'C' Circuit. This may cause the transmission to shift poorly or not at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Harsh or delayed shifting

  • Transmission may not shift at all

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Transmission slipping or overheating

Possible Causes:

  • Short or open circuit in the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'C' Circuit

  • Failed Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'C'

  • Failed Transmission Control Module (TCM)

Related Parts:

  • Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor: Gear fluid line delivers gear fluid/oil between the various gear parts that need lubrication. The Gear fluid line pressure Sensor monitors the fluid pressure in the line. Problems lead to difficulty in shifting gears

Possible Solutions:

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections in the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'C' Circuit

  • Replace the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'C'

  • Replace the Transmission Control Module (TCM) if necessary
