P0872

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0872 indicates that there is an issue with the transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch 'C' circuit. This may result in low fluid pressure and cause poor transmission performance.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Transmission slipping or not shifting properly

  • Harsh shifting or erratic transmission behavior

  • Transmission overheating

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch

  • Damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the sensor circuit

  • Malfunctioning transmission control module (TCM)

Related Parts:

  • Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor: Gear fluid line delivers gear fluid/oil between the various gear parts that need lubrication. The Gear fluid line pressure Sensor monitors the fluid pressure in the line. Problems lead to difficulty in shifting gears

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch

  • Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the sensor circuit

  • Replace the transmission control module (TCM) if necessary
