P0842

2017-10-10

Description:

  • “The fault code P0842 indicates that there is low voltage detected in the Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch A circuit. This may cause issues with the vehicle's transmission, including shifting problems and reduced performance.”

Possible Symptoms:

  • Harsh shifting or delayed shifting

  • Reduced acceleration or performance

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Transmission slipping or not engaging properly

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch

  • Damaged wiring or connections in the circuit

  • Low transmission fluid level

  • Failed transmission control module

Related Parts:

  • Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor: Gear fluid line delivers gear fluid/oil between the various gear parts that need lubrication. The Gear fluid line pressure Sensor monitors the fluid pressure in the line. Problems lead to difficulty in shifting gears

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch

  • Inspect and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Check and refill the transmission fluid level

  • Replace the transmission control module if necessary
