P0797

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0797 indicates that the pressure control solenoid C is stuck in the on position. This may cause the transmission to shift improperly or fail to shift at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Transmission shifts improperly or fails to shift at all

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Reduced fuel efficiency

  • Transmission slipping or overheating

Possible Causes:

  • Failed pressure control solenoid C

  • Faulty wiring or connections in the pressure control solenoid circuit

  • Loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Failed transmission control module (TCM)

Related Parts:

  • Pressure Control Solenoid: This solenoid regulates the oil flow in the transmission. Problems with this solenoid lead to engine misfire, poor fuel economy, poor acceleration

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the pressure control solenoid C

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections in the pressure control solenoid circuit

  • Tighten or clean any loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Replace the transmission control module (TCM) if necessary
