Poor shifting
Decreased fuel efficiency
Increased emissions
Illuminated check engine light
Damaged or faulty wiring in the torque converter clutch circuit
Corroded or dirty transmission fluid or filter
Malfunctioning torque converter clutch solenoid
Failed transmission control module (TCM)
Torque Converter Clutch: The torque converter allows shifting gears in an automatic transmission. It is the equivalent of a clutch in manual transmission system. The torque converter clutch creates a connection between the engine output and the transmission input. Problem leads to decreased fuel economy
Inspect and repair any damaged wiring or connections in the circuit
Replace the torque converter clutch solenoid
Perform a transmission fluid and filter change
Replace the transmission control module (TCM) if necessary
