Illuminated check engine light
Reduced battery performance
Difficulty starting the engine
Poor charging system performance
Faulty battery temperature sensor
Corroded or damaged wiring or connections in the circuit
Failed engine control module (ECM)
Battery temperature sensor circuit shorted to ground
Battery Temperature Sensor: Batteries are temperature-sensitive and a battery's optimal operating temperature range is 40 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Battery temperature sensor monitors battery temperature during charging. If it senses a temperature variation, it orders the computer control system to change the charging rate. Problems make it hard to start car and may cause stalling
Replace the battery temperature sensor
Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring or connections
Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
Inspect the circuit for shorting to ground
