Illuminated check engine light
Decreased fuel efficiency
Poor acceleration or engine performance
Engine misfire or hesitation
Faulty catalyst temperature sensor
Damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the circuit
Failed engine control module (ECM)
Malfunctioning catalytic converter
Catalyst Temperature Sensor: A catalyst is a chemical substance that takes the exhaust gas stream from the engine and converts toxic gases and pollutants to less harmful pollutants. The function of the catalyst temperature sensor is to warn the car computer if temperature of the catalyst goes above the safe limit. Problems lead to harmful emissions out of limit
Replace the catalyst temperature sensor
Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the circuit
Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
Replace the catalytic converter if it is malfunctioning
