P0379

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0379 indicates that there are no timing pulses being received by the engine control module (ECM) from the high-resolution signal B circuit. This may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Engine runs poorly or not at all

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Rough idle or stalling

  • Reduced engine power or acceleration

Possible Causes:

  • Failed crankshaft position sensor

  • Faulty wiring or connections in the circuit

  • Loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

Related Parts:

  • Timing Reference Optical Sensor: The optical sensor monitors the pulses in the fuel injection pump. More fuel is necessary to keep the engine running correctly in this case due to the malfunctioning optical sensor

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the crankshaft position sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Tighten or clean any loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
