P0177

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0177 indicates that there is an issue with the circuit responsible for monitoring the fuel composition sensor. This may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Decreased fuel efficiency

  • Rough idle or stalling

  • Reduced engine power or acceleration

Possible Causes:

  • Failed fuel composition sensor

  • Faulty wiring or connections in the circuit

  • Loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

Related Parts:

  • Fuel Composition Sensor: Fuel composition sensor monitors the composition of the fuel (ethanol%, methanol% etc) that is being used for combustion. Problem leads to poor fuel economy

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the fuel composition sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Tighten or clean any loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
